How to Choose the Best Scuba Diving Suit?

When it comes to diving in Egypt, many advocate Marsa Alam as the greatest destination.

An underwater paradise, as evidenced by its stunning coral reefs, abundant schools of
colorful fish, turtles, stingrays, manta rays, dugongs, whale sharks, and dolphins.

But to get the most out of your diving experience you need to make sure you have the right scuba diving suit. At Blue Vision we can help you make the right choice of suit.

But here are a few tips to take into consideration when finding the perfect suit for you.

Tips and tricks for choosing the scuba diving suit

  1. Consider Water Temperature: The thickness of your suit should depend on the water temperature. Generally, a 3mm suit is good for warm water, a 5mm suit for moderate temperatures, and a 7mm suit or a drysuit for cold water.
  2. Fit is Key: A well-fitting wetsuit should be snug but not restrictive, allowing you full range of motion. It should fit tightly to minimize water flow, which helps maintain body heat.
  3. Choose the Right Style: Wetsuits come in different styles, including full suits, shorties (short sleeves and legs), and two-piece suits. Full suits provide the best protection against cold and environmental hazards.
  4. Material Matters: Neoprene is the most common material for wetsuits, offering good insulation and flexibility. Newer materials like neoprene alternatives can offer better environmental sustainability or different performance characteristics.
  5. Seam Construction: Pay attention to the seams of the wetsuit. Flatlock stitching is adequate for warm water, but sealed seams are better for cold water as they provide extra sealing against water entry.
  6. Zippers: Check the placement and quality of zippers. Back zippers are common, but some divers prefer front zippers for ease of entry. Ensure zippers are durable and have a good seal.
  7. Consider Additional Features: Features like reinforced knees, padded elbows, and thermal linings can enhance durability and comfort. These might be particularly desirable for frequent divers or those diving in challenging conditions.
  8. Ease of Movement: Make sure the suit allows for easy movement, especially around the shoulders and joints. Stretchy materials around these areas can make a significant difference.
  9. Try Before You Buy: If possible, try on different suits. What looks good on paper might not feel right when worn. Movement and comfort are easier to assess in person.
  10. Maintenance and Care: Consider the care required for the suit. Proper maintenance will extend its life. Look for a suit that is easy to clean and repair if necessary.
